Lab-grown is mainstream at the bridal counter
The question for retailers is no longer whether to sell lab-grown. It is how much, at what price points, and from whom. One data point: 51% of engagement rings newly appraised by BriteCo from January to June 2026 had a lab-grown center stone (source). That figure comes from BriteCo’s own appraisal records, so it is not a national market share, but it shows how normal lab-grown has become for engagement rings.
For a grower or cutter, that is good news and a problem. Demand is real, but so is competition. Buyers get supplier emails every week, and most of them read the same: “best prices, all shapes, IGI certified.”
What retailers ask before the first lab-grown order
The suppliers who get replies answer these questions up front:
- Who grows and cuts the stones? Buyers want to know whether you grow, cut, or trade, and where.
- How are they graded? Which lab, and from what carat weight every stone comes with a report.
- How consistent are reorders? A retailer who sells a style wants the same look next month.
- What does a first order look like? Minimums, memo for approved accounts if you offer it, payment terms and returns.
- How fast can you confirm and ship? Especially for custom bridal orders with a deadline.
Our copy answers two or three of these in the first email, and saves the rest for the follow-ups. We never send price lists as attachments in a cold email.
Disclosure is part of your pitch
US buyers are careful about how lab-grown is described, because they are responsible for what they tell their own customers. The FTC’s Jewelry Guides expect lab-grown diamonds to be clearly described with terms such as “laboratory-grown” or “laboratory-created” (16 CFR Part 23). Our emails always describe your goods accurately, and we treat clean disclosure as a selling point: it tells the buyer you will not cause them problems.
One lab-grown client per market
Because so many suppliers are pitching the same stores, we take only one lab-grown client per country at a time. Your campaign is never competing with another JewelFindy campaign for the same buyer’s attention.
